The Journal of the OUHS was established by the student community at Oxford as a medium for the publication and dissemination of original and inter-disciplinary historical research. It is a bi-annual online peer-reviewed scholarly journal run by postgraduate students under the aegis of the Oxford University History Society. Its aims are: to establish scholarly links in the varied community of historians at the University of Oxford; to serve as a discussion forum for the international community of postgraduate students and scholars; and to provide a medium for contact between advanced postgraduate students and established academics.

JOUHS is envisaged not only as a platform for graduate and doctoral students, but also as a means of interaction with eminent scholars JOUHS publishes online both graduate and undergraduate papers in the following subject areas: Archaeology, Ancient History, Medieval History, European History, History of the British Isles, World History, Approaches to History, Economic History, History of Science, and History of Art. Additionally, the JOUHS accepts other items for publication: essays, articles, reviews, conference papers and interviews.
